the very of silence

I am writing a paper. Can’t you tell? Sigh. This paper is only supposed to be two pages long, but I can’t do it. I am twitchy and fidgety. I’ve got another one due at the same time on Friday and it is considerably more substantial. Guess how much of that one I have written?
Good guess.
I have gotten some stress-relief knitting done to get my through finals, though! Yay! I knit my first-ever hat, which is weird since I’ve been knitting for a long time and have somehow never knitted any hats which are items that I collect obsessively. I am an enigma, it seems. This hat is nor for me, but for a lovely friend in the UK who has asked for knitted goods to be sent her way. So she will receive this hat and a set of glove/mitten hybrids that are also my first of either species. Those are nearly finished as well, and probably would be finished now if I had gotten my two paged paper done instead of wallowing in self-pity for most of the afternoon/evening.
As soon as I am finished with all of this nonsense I will post pictures of the lovely knittins.
We are sailing on a broken ship

I am starting to run out of mediums with which I can procrastinate working on my Morphosyntax final project.
I have been working on it for over a week, several hours a day. And I’m still going to be up all night. I’m so lost and overwhelmed that I don’t even want to start it up again tonight! Aaaaagh.
Bye-bye world…

I uploaded pictures! Hooray!
Okay. So the rundown is that my apartment is teensy-tiny and Matt and I have stuff…and three cats. And I’m a knitter and a sewer, and Matt collects comic books. On top of that we are both huge Book Junkies and have millions of them. Hopefully we’ll be moving into a larger place, but the better we can make things work in the horribly small place, the nicer our next place will be, right? First order of business is getting all the bloody yarn under control. So I found a lovely tub thing at Target that comes with little dividers and whatnot. It doesn’t hold more than a quarter of the stash, but it’s a start, and the tubs are cheap.
They also fit perfectly under my bed.
With parts of the stash neatly tucked away, I was finally able to move a ton of other stuff off of my floor. The problem here is that we don’t want to get any more cupboards or racks or anything because they take up room that we just don’t really have. So I’m trying to find lots of moderately hidden stuff like above tub.
I moved my bed to a different part of the room in hopes of opening up a bit more floor space. Yes, it would help if I didn’t have a huge-ass bed. And I think that next time we move I will probably get rid of it, even though it would break my heart.
I really like the setup now. The futon is in the same place that it was, but you can see the marks on the carpet where the bed used to be. There was just a really awkward amount of space and I couldn’t do anything. Now, I am ready for yoga in there!
I also cleared out my closet, which I was using as an office-thing. I put my desk in the living room, and plan to use this as my ’sacred space’ where I can knit and meditate and generally be cat and people-free. I still need something to do with my sewing machine, big bags of yarn and my flute. Meh.
As I said, I moved my desk out there, and I also bought Matt a computer desk for Samhain (along with Legoo Batman and Guild Wars for the both of us!). We got rid of the coffee table that was in there taking up huge amounts of space and serving as a receptacle for all trash and dishes. Euck. It’s in storage at my grandma’s, since I love it too dearly to get rid of it just because our current apartment sucks. That blur is Lily, going after her red catnip mouse. As you can see, we still just have…Stuff lying around. And it doesn’t look too small in these pictures, but that’s because it’s mostly clean. The second one thing hits the floor or piles up on either of our desks it decreases hugely in size. It’s frustrating and claustrophobic.
Oh, and can you find Croissant? He is not the cleverest of the ninja.
